Dianabol vs Anadrol: Size, Strength and Side Effects
Dianabol vs Anadrol
Both appeal to people chasing fast size, strength and muscle fullness. The day-to-day questions are appetite, water retention and how training feels—not which tablet wins per milligram.
People report different experiences, often while taking other drugs too. Neither is consistently stronger, drier or easier to tolerate, and the available trials do not give a fair head-to-head answer.
Methandienone
Oxymetholone
- Fullness
- Reported with both; scale gain can include fluid.
- Appetite
- Reports vary. Neither has a predictable advantage.
- Tolerance
- Blood pressure, liver and cholesterol matter beyond gym results.
Different drugs. No established milligram-for-milligram conversion or head-to-head winner.
Doses and durations are not equivalent
Two studies, not interchangeable courses
| Compare | Dianabol trial | Anadrol trial |
|---|---|---|
| Daily amount | 10 or 25 mg total, orally | 50 mg twice or three times daily (100 or 150 mg total) |
| Drug period | 6 weeks | 16 weeks |
| Who was studied | 13 male weightlifters | 89 adults with HIV-associated wasting |
The Dianabol trial and Anadrol trial studied different populations and endpoints. These numbers explain the evidence; they are not interchangeable bodybuilding doses or safe cycle lengths. Liver toxicity was substantial in the Anadrol trial. For separately scoped reported nonmedical amounts and duration claims, see the Dianabol guide and Anadrol guide.
Weight gain is not a clean contest
One small methandienone trial found better performance than placebo; another found body-composition changes without a significant performance advantage. The latter explicitly raised fluid accumulation as a possible explanation for part of the result. 1975 trial; 1976 trial.
Oxymetholone improved weight and body-cell mass in a randomized trial in people with HIV-associated wasting, with liver toxicity an important adverse finding. This is evidence in illness, not a comparison with Dianabol in trained healthy adults. Original oxymetholone trial
Blood production is a distinct effect
Oxymetholone’s historical medical indication involved deficient red-cell production. A high hematocrit in an otherwise healthy person is a different situation from treatment of anemia. It should not be reframed as free endurance or as a problem that routine blood donation automatically solves. Historical Anadrol prescribing information
If a blood count changes, the useful next step is to review the trend, exposure and clinical context. A comparison chart of drug concentrations cannot supply a safe hematocrit threshold for continued performance use.
Neither swelling nor appetite identifies the better drug
A common story says Anadrol always suppresses appetite, yet appetite improved in the HIV-wasting trial. A common story also assigns every episode of swelling to estrogen. Neither generalization is reliable enough to guide another medication.
Record appetite, weight and symptoms separately. If a product causes persistent nausea, swelling or elevated blood pressure, selecting an ancillary from an unverified protocol is not a substitute for reviewing the exposure.
What both comparisons should include
Liver findings, cholesterol, blood pressure, symptoms and reproductive function are separate outcomes. Normality in one does not establish overall safety. A shorter planned course may reduce total exposure compared with a longer one, but these sources do not identify a risk-free duration or prove that supplements prevent injury.
Use the bloodwork guide to organize results and PCT fundamentals to understand why drug clearance and recovery are different processes.
Common questions
Which makes more lasting muscle?
These studies cannot supply a reliable head-to-head answer. Different populations, regimens and measurements prevent a fair numerical comparison.
Does an AI solve both drugs' side effects?
No. Liver injury, altered lipids and red-cell effects are not corrected by suppressing estradiol.
Does a kickstart have a special safety limit?
No. The term describes using an oral at the beginning of a longer course. It does not establish a safe number of weeks, and changing to an injectable does not erase the earlier exposure.
Sources and review notes
Checked October 12, 2026. The Freed trial and Hengge trial differ in population, duration and outcomes. They cannot support a comparative safety or muscle-gain ranking. Anadrol’s red-cell and edema context comes from its historical FDA label, not a study of performance use.
