Enclomiphene Citrate
Also called Enclomifene · Enclomifene citrate · Androxal · EnCyzix · Enclo
Lifters discuss enclomiphene when they want to restart their own testosterone after androgen use, compare an oral option with TRT, or keep fertility in view. Another draw is the hope of a more tolerable alternative to Clomid. Trials support increased testosterone in selected men; feeling better, recovering after a cycle and preserving fertility are separate outcomes to assess.

Different goals, different outcomes
Recovery, TRT alternatives and fertility
-
After a cycle
The cited low-testosterone trials do not establish a post-cycle recovery regimen.
-
Instead of TRT
Trials in selected men raised the body’s hormone signaling rather than supplying testosterone.
-
Planning a family
Maintained sperm counts in separate trial arms do not prove benefit when added to ongoing TRT.
Why it comes up in bodybuilding
After a cycle, the concern is often losing the testosterone level, sex drive or training momentum someone had while using androgens. People compare enclomiphene with Clomid and weigh recovery against staying on testosterone. That explains the interest; the conflicting experiences do not establish which plan works best.
An oral alternative to TRT—or a PCT drug?
Those are different questions. Published studies enrolled men with secondary hypogonadism and measured hormone responses to daily enclomiphene. They do not automatically establish a recovery regimen after a particular steroid cycle. The dose guide identifies the actual trial groups and duration rather than relabeling those numbers as a bodybuilding cycle.
Will higher testosterone make me feel better?
That is what people want to know. Some people report changes in energy or motivation, while others describe much better blood results with little improvement in libido. These are personal accounts, not response rates. Clinical trials established hormone changes more clearly than symptom benefit, so how someone feels remains a separate question from the testosterone number.
Why choose it over Clomid?
Clomid contains both enclomiphene and zuclomiphene. The attraction of the single isomer is the hope of a more tolerable experience. A retrospective study of 66 men reported fewer documented side effects after switching, but follow-up was shorter on enclomiphene and there was no washout between treatments. This does not establish a better PCT option or a personal dose conversion.
Does it protect fertility while staying on TRT?
The fertility interest is understandable: in the cited phase III trials, enclomiphene maintained sperm concentration while testosterone gel reduced it. Those were separate treatment groups. They do not prove that adding enclomiphene to ongoing injected testosterone preserves fertility. A semen analysis answers a different question from a testosterone blood test.
What remains uncertain?
No approved US/EU enclomiphene product was identified in this review. FDA and EMA assessments raise clinical-benefit and safety questions, including clotting concerns. The relative plot is useful for the stated drug-timing scenario; it cannot show hormonal recovery, libido or sperm production.

Timing assumptions and sources
About 10 h elimination half-life from the 14-day oral-citrate trial; 2.5 h peak is an assumed midpoint of the 2–3 h range described in the 6-week trial and FDA review.
One 1 mg input peaks at 1 relative unit after a single dose. Other amounts scale proportionally; overlapping doses add when accumulation is on. Different compounds use separate relative scales.
- Timing half-life used
- 10 hours
- Absorption half-life assumed
- 0.5705954 hours
- Reference amount for the relative scale
- 1 mg
- Absorption half-life 0.570595 h is inferred from the selected 10 h tail and 2.5 h peak, not a published fitted rate.
- One 1 mg declared citrate input peaks at 1 relative unit. This normalization is not a citrate-to-base conversion.
- Dose-proportional scaling and repeated-dose addition are mathematical conveniences: observed drug exposure was not proportional across doses.
- The 6-week study drug curve cannot be reused as a single-dose absolute calibration; no Cmax is invented.
- Metabolites, CYP2D6 variability and hormonal feedback are not modeled. The drug curve does not estimate total testosterone, estradiol or sperm count.

No approved dosing label was identified. FDA/EMA reviews identified unresolved clinical-benefit and safety questions, including clotting risk; hormone and fertility outcomes need direct assessment.
Common questions
Why is enclomiphene discussed for PCT?
People hope that stimulating their own hormone signaling will help recovery after androgen use and preserve progress. The cited trials studied selected men with secondary hypogonadism, not a universal post-cycle regimen.
Is enclomiphene better than Clomid?
A small retrospective switching study found fewer documented side effects with enclomiphene. Its design cannot prove superiority for PCT or predict an individual’s experience.
Can my testosterone improve without my libido improving?
That pattern appears in the community accounts reviewed. The regulator assessments also distinguish a hormone increase from demonstrated symptom benefit. Libido is not predicted by this drug curve.
Does adding enclomiphene to TRT guarantee fertility?
No. The cited sperm-count trials compared enclomiphene with testosterone gel rather than proving an add-on regimen for injected TRT. Fertility requires its own assessment; a high testosterone result is insufficient.
Are 12.5 mg and 25 mg approved PCT doses?
No. They are amounts used in named clinical studies. No FDA/EMA-approved enclomiphene dosing label was identified, and those studies do not establish a personal PCT schedule.

Notes on the quick facts
- Why lifters discuss it
- PCT discussions focus on recovery and retaining progress; the trials here are not a validated post-cycle protocol.
- Why compare it with TRT?
- Trials raised testosterone and maintained sperm concentration in selected men with secondary hypogonadism.
- What counts as success?
- Personal accounts show why a higher testosterone result is not the whole answer to libido, energy or fertility questions.

Nolvadex (Tamoxifen)
Nolvadex is researched by steroid users for breast-tissue symptoms and post-cycle hormone recovery. It acts at estrogen receptors rather than simply lowering the estradiol blood result; its medical use is mainly in breast cancer, and off-label goals need their own evidence.
Clomid (Clomiphene)
Clomid is researched by men who want to raise their own testosterone while preserving fertility, or recover after steroid use. It can increase hormone production in selected men, but it is not testosterone replacement in a tablet and does not guarantee sperm recovery or feeling better.
Estradiol Topical (EstroGel)
Estradiol gel is used to ease menopausal hot flushes and other low-estrogen symptoms without a pill or injection. The practical choices are the exact pump product, the daily skin routine and whether a separate progestogen is needed.
