Clomid (Clomiphene)
Also called Clomiphene · Clomid · SERM
Clomid is researched by men who want to raise their own testosterone while preserving fertility, or recover after steroid use. It can increase hormone production in selected men, but it is not testosterone replacement in a tablet and does not guarantee sperm recovery or feeling better.

Beyond the testosterone number
Three outcomes to keep separate
-
Hormone production
Clomiphene can raise testosterone in selected men; male treatment is off-label.
-
How you feel
Energy, libido and mood do not necessarily improve alongside the blood result.
-
Fertility
A higher testosterone result alone does not establish sperm recovery.
Why consider it instead of TRT?
Clomiphene can stimulate the hormone signals that drive testicular testosterone production. That makes it relevant when fertility matters, but response depends on whether the testes and signaling system can respond. It is not a direct substitute for every cause of low testosterone.
Better numbers, but how do you feel?
Recent TRT discussions include both positive Clomid experiences and reports of better hormone numbers with unsettled mood or libido. Energy, sexual function and lab results are different outcomes. Those stories are useful questions to bring to a review, not a way to diagnose an estrogen problem or choose another drug.
What about post-cycle recovery?
Steroid users often look for a short reset. The male hypogonadism cohort behind the opening card does not establish a fixed PCT schedule after anabolic use. Symptoms, testosterone recovery and sperm recovery are separate outcomes.
Clomid versus enclomiphene
Clomid includes both enclomiphene and zuclomiphene. A product containing only enclomiphene is not automatically equivalent milligram for milligram; reported experiences after switching do not prove better safety.
New vision symptoms
Flashes, blurred vision or other new visual symptoms require stopping Clomid and prompt eye evaluation according to the label. They should not be tolerated until the end of a course.
Model details: Clomid (Clomiphene) · relative timing
Compare timing and buildup for this compound. The values are not blood concentrations or a measure of strength.
Shows a relative timing scenario; absolute blood concentrations are not calibrated.
Timing assumptions and sources
Five-day timing is a legacy illustration; no single measured half-life for the mixture accepted. The retained 120 h slower timescale is an assumption.
One 1 mg input peaks at 1 relative unit after a single dose. Other amounts scale proportionally; overlapping doses add when accumulation is on. Different compounds use separate relative scales.
- Timing half-life used
- 120 hours
- Absorption half-life assumed
- 30 hours
- Reference amount for the relative scale
- 1 mg
- Absorption half-life is assumed to be one quarter of the slower timescale (30 h); it is not a measured absorption parameter.
- A single 1-unit input has a peak of 1 relative unit; scaling and repeated-dose addition are mathematical assumptions. This normalization is independent of the example dose.
- Two separate 15 ng/mL peaks at different times are not a 30 ng/mL mixture Cmax.
- Do not model enclomiphene alone as Clomid.
- Ghobadi et al 2009: clomiphene isomers in PCOS
50 mg citrate:Zu peak 15 ng/mL at 7 h, AUC 0–456=1289; En peak 15 at 3 h, AUC 0–72=65; reliable terminal model parameters could not be obtained.
- Mikkelson 1986: clomiphene in volunteers
24 healthy women;50 mg; isomer concentrations and persistence differ.
- Clomiphene citrate label
Product is 30–50% cis isomer and 50 mgcitrate; cis persists much longer.

Common questions
Is Clomid approved for male TRT?
The US label concerns ovulatory dysfunction; use in men is off-label.
Does a higher testosterone level mean fertility is restored?
No. Fertility requires separate assessment, including semen testing when appropriate.

Notes on the quick facts
- Why men use it
- Male treatment is off-label and depends on the cause of low testosterone.
- Fertility goal
- A higher testosterone result alone does not establish improved fertility.
- Important side effect
- The label advises stopping treatment and getting a full eye assessment.
